A Wintery Spring Break...

I'm back from my very wintery vacay to the mountains of North Carolina and wow was it cold!!!!
We took a couple of days to go and poke around on the mountainside and look into maybe buying a little mountain chalet or cabin. The hubby has also been building a new recording studio up there and he needed to put some finishing touches on his new place so the music could start flowing.

I wanted to show you some places we looked at that were just breathtakingly gorgeous. Keep in mind, these pictures convey a very long and harsh winter that the area is coming out of, but I always tend to see the beauty in everything that Mother Nature bestows upon us...

This was a place in the Smoky Mountains we looked at. It was the coldest part of the area with a foot of snow on the ground and more coming down. I loved it!!! It felt like I was inside a real life snow globe, a very magical place....

this was the cabin in the snow's front porch.. how sweet is this...

...here was another place we saw, with the most panoramic views ever! One of the mountains in the view is the infamous "Cold Mountain" and yes, I am talking of the one from the movie...

here is a little quaint chalet we looked at with a really high elevation...

...and my personal favorite, (and way over-priced, of course) was this neat cabin on the most beautiful 1/2 acre of land with stunning mountain views and your own personal stream...

...some pictures of my husband in his newly finished studio...

...now it's time to make some music!!!

I also got to go antiquing and found some beautiful buckles...

...amazing buttons...

...gorgeous old earrings...

...awesome old cameos...

...and beautiful old religious pieces...

...and I really lucked up on some beautiful Victorian lace and fabric for my upcoming cuffs...

...I couldn't resist this vintage fur from an old coat. It will be perfect for next Fall and Winter's cuff line I will be making...

...and last but not least...this had to go home with me...

...a  neat old, old ostrich feather and beaver chapeau. LOVE! LOVE!

Happy Easter my friends!

May every one's day be filled with blessings and joy!

He Died For Us!!!

Take care everyone and see you back here mid-week with some new designs from my antique score this past week.

Spring Break....

Well, I am happy to be reporting that I am taking a few days off to 'recharge my batteries' and find some renewed creative inspiration. I am going to one of my fave vacation spots this week, Maggie Valley, North Carolina, for a little mid-life 'Spring Break'. No, I will not be donning a bathing suit or getting a tattoo or a piercing, just relaxing, maybe do a little antiquing and enjoy some fresh mountain air with friends. Oh, and I must find some good, live bluegrass music to listen to!! There is nothing in this world like some pure, sweet indigenous bluegrass music playing against a backdrop of beautiful mountains! But in the meantime, before hubby and I take off, I have a few new pieces coming to my Etsy shop tonight and tomorrow....here's a peek...

There will be a sweet old deer....

...and some vintage French Souvenirs.....

...and some new little ear baubles are coming...

Thanks for stopping by to visit...
Will be back in a few days with lots of pictures of an old-timer's version of Spring Break! LOL
Have a great week everyone!!!

A Beautiful Day in the Park...

Show day has finally come and gone..and, whew, what work those shows are! I am so happy to have done it though. It was beautiful day, and the people were so warm and receptive of my work. It is really an awesome experience to get out and actually hear what people are saying about your work. Another rewarding element of doing a show, is actually getting to see your finished work draped on a customer's neck, earlobes or wrists. It is basically like, watching my little babies 'fly the nest' for the first time. Here are a few pictures from the beautiful day we had...

.
..the little guy in the far right corner, was contemplating a swim...

...and as soon as I snapped this picture, he did...and in full clothing, I might add! :~)

Here was my little humble set up....

...my little vintage cherub chandelier and my old Victorian mantle clock were well received...

This big guy was the star of the day in his little St. Patty's Day top hat...

...so darn cute!!!!

Here are a few of my new pieces coming to my Etsy shop tonight and tomorrow...

...more antique French embroidered cuffs are coming to my Etsy too...

I hope everyone had a great weekend, as for me, I am still moving a little slow after the show yesterday, but in good spirits. Thanks for stopping by everyone and hope your upcoming week is full of happy creating time!
